A Quick Thank-you

As most of you already know, I'm moving to Victoria, BC on Thursday. The moving process has brought with it a whole slew of emotions and memories. Today, I would like to go through and thank all the people who have helped me become the cyclist I am today. Feel free to take this as a reminder to thank someone who helped you become who you are today. I'm sticking to first names because I haven't asked any of these people they're ok with me talking about them. Here goes.

I'd like to start by thanking my parents for keeping my on good quality bikes all throughout my younger years, and more specifically my dad for taking me to see the white horse the day I got my revel.

Next, I would like to thank Glen, Mark, and the other guy (don't remember his name) who took me on my first ever group ride. I had a lot of fun with you guys, and you set a good first impression. Also Mark, thank-you for the advice on chamois shorts, you really saved my butt.

Thanks to the guys at Alter Ego Cycling Club (and the store, but mostly the club). I'm not sure how, but you guys saw that I had potential and really supported me while I was starting out. A special shout out to Betsy for lending me your son's bike for a couple weeks.

Thank-you Terry for giving me a good deal on your old cross bike. It was exactly what I needed to start out.

Thank-you to the Manitoba Provincial Team for accepting me as one of your own when I showed up for a road ride with a mountain bike and a hydration pack, or at least waiting until you dropped me mid-interval to say anything about it. I'm more than happy to call each and every one of you friends and teammates.

Thank-you to the MCA and all the volunteers and everybody who organized all the races. You guys did a fantastic job of keeping everything organized, and keeping riders safe. Even when they crash.... like me.

Thank-you Chris, for giving me some perspective in to what it takes to race at a high level. I hope you all the best in your life after cycling.

2016 Provincial Road Race U23 Podium. Serious respect for these two (Chris and Graham)

Thank-you Graham for consistently wrecking me in training, giving me someone to look up to on a regular basis, also that one time you let me win the interval.

Thank-you to all the guys at Woodcock Cycle Works for all the advice and general knowledge that you've given me over my year of working with you, and to Management, thanks for being nice to me even though I'm leaving at the start of the busy season. I'll definitely come visit whenever I'm in Winnipeg.

Thank you, Darren, for spotting me a tube with a longer valve when I flatted. That's a mistake I've only made once.

Thanks to Nic and Rob. You two kept me motivated to get out and ride this winter by going and winter riding yourselves.

Thank-you Dave, you were the first person to tell me you enjoy my blog in person. That meant a lot.

Thank-you Alex, Adrian, Liam, James, and Jeff for bringing me on the hardest fatbike ride of my life, and waiting for me at the end of all the trails. I'm not even close to converting to mountain, but I did have a lot of fun.

Finally, I would like to thank everybody who I've ridden with, passed, been passed by, lent tubes to, helped with mechanicals, you get the idea. I've enjoyed my interactions with every you all.

If any of you ever make a trip out to Victoria and want a riding partner, drop me a line.

Oh yeah, and thank-you Oli for helping me out with this next step in my life. I've been counting the hours until we can go for our first ride.

I KNEW I'D FIND A PLACE FOR THIS EVENTUALLY!!!!!!! (Seriously though, thank's Oli)

Stay Cool Internet ;)
